[What's okay to mention around him/her] Most things. If he doesn't want to talk about something, he'll not talk about it.
[Is there anything you need us to know about interacting with this character? Special physical features, special abilities, etc] His eyes are red, but despite what he tells you that doesn't make him special at all.
[Can I hack that strike or otherwise find out information they'd prefer to keep hidden?] Only if it's stated that it's hackable.
[What would be a suitable way of disciplining them?] Detention, taking away privileges like Quidditch matches or Hogsmeade trips
[Can I troll/mindscrew/mess with in general?] Sure
[Can I spit at/jinx/step on/etc? (i.e. fighting)] Also ok
[Can I flirt with/hug/kiss/use other means of non-violent physical contact with this character?] Are you sure you actually want to do that? But yes, that's fine too.
[Anything else?] Nope.

Character Information
Name: Gilbert Beilschmidt
Canon Origin/Series: Axis Powers Hetalia
School Year: 6
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Out of school living location: Prussia Cove, Cornwall | Berlin, Germany
Blood status: Halfsie

Personality: At face value, Gilbert appears to be a rather brash and rude teenager. This is partially true; his ego is so large that even Atlas would be unable to support it. He thinks he’s the shit and he isn’t afraid to admit it at all. It is common to hear Gilbert talking about just how truly fantastic he is on every level. Move out of the way everyone else, no one can compare. (And if he isn’t talking about it? He’s definitely writing about it.) He is also loud and obnoxious, which unsurprisingly can be quite grating to people around him.

But does he care? Typically speaking, no. He will act how he pleases, as long as it somehow falls in accordance to what is expected of him. He isn’t adverse to getting in trouble—in fact, he might even encourage it, depending upon who he is around. At the same time, he is disciplined. He respects his parents and his professors. He wouldn’t directly disobey them. He may find himself in trouble from time to time, but this would more often stem from him feeling too adventurous or from him losing his cool. Both of which, unfortunately, can happen frequently. He’s definitely immature at times, but he is well aware of when it’s time to be serious.

Unless he’s interacting with someone he just inherently dislikes, it can be difficult to set him off into a legit fury. He can be varying degrees of irritable and annoyed, but that rage is more reserved for someone who he considers a threat in some manner or another. Unfortunately, if someone falls into this category, they’re probably going to be there forever. He’s quite capable of holding grudges.

A misconception of him is that Gilbert is lazy and messy. This truly isn’t the case; after all, in canon, he’s the one who taught Ludwig everything he knows. There’s a reason why German efficiency specifically referred to Prussian. He manages his time well and is able to finish his assignments quickly enough that he has time to spare. It seems that with the speed of assignment completion, he must be only half-assing it. Again, this is not the case. His grades aren’t flawless, but he’s thorough, especially with classes that interest him. DADA and history, for example, would hold his attention quite well. Potions would too, right up to the point where the directions call for him to be patient and wait. He’s transparent with classes that are disinteresting to him, though. He’ll either space out entirely or sleep until the lecture is back onto something that’s worth his attention.

Canon Background: here
Background (AU!Canon; HP): Paranormal

Gilbert was born 18 January 1996 to Friedrich Beilschmidt, a ministry official employed at the German Ministry of Magic, and his English Muggle wife. For the most part, his childhood was rather normal; his mother accepted that her husband was a wizard and accepted that her son might be as well.

When Gilbert was four, he gave his parents quite a shock. His mother had been in the other room when she heard her boy scream. When she found him, he was rolling around on the floor laughing. This wasn’t so out of the norm for him. It was that his once blue eyes were now red. It was Gilbert’s first display of having an aptitude for magic. Considering that Gilbert thought the colour made his eyes cool—and still does—neither of his parents were concerned with having that fixed. So while someone might assume he’s an albino, he’s not; his hair is just that shade of platinum blond and his vision is excellent.

While his mother was chill with the magic thing, the one thing she wouldn’t compromise on was his education. Gilbert was already being raised in a bilingual household, but she still wanted him to learn in a proper environment. Luckily, being raised in Berlin, there was a plethora of bilingual elementary schools for him to attend. From a young age, Gilbert showed aptitude for a variety of subjects. His only problem was the combined force of his overabundant energy and his ability to get easily distracted. Despite this, his overall early education experience was normal and his teachers expected him to end up in a college-prep track when the time came.

Prior to starting Hogwarts, there were two events that dramatically affected his childhood. The first was a standard family vacation when he was about seven or eight years old. It might’ve been a business meeting for his father guised as a family vacation, but those details are irrelevant. Regardless, Gilbert found himself vacationing in Normandie with his parents and younger brother. It was on one of the beaches that he met a certain Arthur Kirkland.
Gilbert had been aware that there would be another kid his age somewhere, because his father had mentioned something about a colleague’s family vacationing there too. It’s needless to say that when he finally located Arthur, he made the worst best first impression. His mother had attempted to teach him basic French phrases for this vacation, but the pronunciations were far too difficult. When he asked Arthur if he spoke German in French, it was with complete German pronunciation and he wasn’t understood. But gosh, that English-speaking came in handy and proceeded to talk Arthur’s ear off. From that point on, they were friends. Gilbert has spent the most of it since then trying to trick Arthur into believing outlandish things about muggles that definitely weren’t true.

The other event was the one that landed him in the UK semi-permanently. When he was ten, his father was offered a position a liaison—or a diplomat, perhaps—between the UK and German ministries. He could’ve easily just used magic to make the commute to and from London, or worked out some sort of schedule. It was Gilbert’s mother who suggested they just move to the UK all together. The family ended up in Prussia Cove in Cornwall because that’s where Gilbert’s parents met during the vacation season or something—don’t ask him; the story was too sappy for him to pay much attention to.

Since Gilbert was in the UK when he turned eleven, he received his owl to attend school there. That was just as well; his father knew it was one of the best wizard schools in the world. His parents remained in Prussia Cove for a few years, until his father got promoted and returned to Berlin. However, Gilbert continued going to school at Hogwarts despite the move. During the holidays, he’s either back in Prussia Cove because his family kept the house there too, or he’s in Berlin. Both places are like home to him, though he’ll always be a Berliner at heart.

Gilbert is now a sixth year and strives to become the greatest auror ever. It might come as a surprise that he does well in most of his classes, but it’s true. He’s learnt how to time manage efficiently, which helps his focus. (That and those unspoken homework completion competitions he has with Arthur.) He’s passionate about History of Magic (or history in general, especially if he can relate it back him himself), DaDa, and Care for Magical Creatures.

Apptivity

How would your character fit in to each House?

Gryffindor: Gilbert could be a Gryffindor. He’s got all of the right traits for it—he’s brave and he’s got nerve. He will stand up for what he believes in and you can count on him to do that. He’s got the makings to be a hero if circumstances allow it.

Hufflepuff: Gilbert might appear to be ill-suited for Hufflepuff, but he shares some qualities required of Hufflepuffs. He’s extremely loyal to his friends and family. If it came to it, he would put himself on the line for them, no questions asked.

Ravenclaw: Although he doesn’t often show it, Gilbert is extremely intelligent and enjoys learning. While he’s not extremely studious, he knows how to apply his knowledge in a variety of situations. Should he actually be thinking, at least.

Slytherin: Out of all of the houses, Gilbert would be best suited for Slytherin. While he’s capable of being brave and chivalrous, it’s all a matter of intention. Put him in the right situation and Gilbert’s cunning can become quite apparent; he is a talented tactician and strategist. That being said, he’s not reckless; he always has a plan. It’s more of a matter of if it’s actually a good plan or not. He also has the potential to be underhanded or simply sneaky, should it serve in his interests.

Journal Sample:

Journal,

Today was awesome, just like every other day, just because I was in it. Today was definitely one of those reflexive days where I just sat somewhere and wondered just how it could be that a mortal could be so grand. It's a legitimate question. It almost seems to defy logic all together.

Then I came to the conclusion that maybe I'm actually not that awesome. I know, it's a frightening thought! But you see, what happened was I face to face with the absolute personification of awesome. You could also say "boss" "magnificient" and "stunning" here too. You know how people go on those spirit-finding expedition in the woods and don't come back until they've found their spirit animal or something? It's supposed to be some sort of life changing experience. They're completely overwhelmed by it, ect.

It was exactly like that. But even greater. My whole outlook on life has changed.

And then I realised I was looking in a mirror.

-Gilbert
